Abortion, Abortion, Abortion…
Many people feel like mentioning the word is a sin, and let’s not think about getting an abortion. With the election next Tuesday, there are still a few undecided voters. Some are undecided because of unemployment, foreign policies, and many women are undecided because of women’s rights, and abortion is one of the main causes of this.
Personally, I support a woman’s right to have an abortion for many reasons, but the main reasons are because it’s a personal choice; everyone has to be accountable for their own actions; and no woman should have to carry a child that was conceived through rape.
First, I feel that abortion is a personal choice. If I want to abort a child that it is my personal right, as a human being to do just that. Just like if a gay person wants to get married or a mother wants to put her child up for an adoption is a personal choice, abortion is a personal choice as well. At the end of the day, people are entitled to do whatever they want. Everything has a consequence, and people who have abortions will have to deal with it themselves not the whole United States, which is why the United States Government should not be able to tell a woman what to do with her body.
Secondly, Don’t get my started on the church folk. If a woman decides to have an abortion she is automatically going to hell with gasoline underwear on, and I just don’t understand that. With all due respect, God is the only one that has the power to put anyone in Heaven or Hell- not people. Having an abortion does not make a woman a bad person. I’m not saying that the decision is right, but I am saying that people have to answer for themselves, and when people understand that things will be better.
Thirdly, some women become pregnant after they have been raped. I do believe that we all agree that no woman should have to carry another man’s child who forced her to have sex. Well, unless it’s ‘legitimate rape’, as Senator Richard Murdock put it. Somehow we have been given special powers that will prevent us from becoming pregnant, during the case of rape. How dumb is that?
Basically, I support abortion because it’s a woman’s right. Who are we to tell a woman what she can and cannot do? I’m a woman and whatever I want to do with my va jay jay is my business. I don’t need you, the government, or anyone else to tell me that I can’t.
I think people need to worry about themselves instead of worrying about everyone else. You may feel that a woman shouldn’t have an abortion and that’s your opinion. But it is not fair to mark her with a scarlet letter, or try to put your beliefs on her. Yeah, I know you say that the woman should have thought about that before she had sex, and that is true, but forcing your beliefs on others isn’t right.
I am for abortion, but I do think that women shouldn’t make going to the clinic to take care of an unwanted pregnancy a habit. At some point, you have to take responsibility and put your big girl panties on and do what you have to do. I do believe in birth control, and women need to use it more, instead of having 4 kids before the age of 23 or having multiple abortions.
Before you leave me a very nasty comment or think that I’m a despicable person just know that this is my opinion and I’m entitled to it. Just make sure you don’t find yourself in a sticky situation because truth be told, you never know how you will handle a situation until it’s you.
